About Rabbi Heiligman
Rabbi Yocheved Heiligman is Bet Chaverim’s spiritual leader and Rabbi. She joined Bet Chaverim in 2023 after serving another congregation in Howard County for 17 years and having participated in the wider Howard County Jewish community for over two decades, including several terms on the Board of the Jewish Federation of Howard County. She is a member of the Howard County Board of Rabbis and the Baltimore Board of Rabbis as well as the Rabbinic Partnership for Jewish Peoplehood.
Rabbi Heiligman comes with a vast wealth of experience which includes being an author, and a visiting chaplain in the Federal Prison System and a nursing home. She was a Jewish acculturation specialist with the new Americans from the former Soviet Union. Rabbi Heiligman loves to teach Jews of all ages about how Judaism can enhance their lives and help them find their way to a more fulfilling spiritual life.
Rabbi Heiligman creates Jewish art quilts and multi-media art, and has exhibited them in the Ratner Museum, the American Visionary Art Museum, and has held several “One Woman Shows”.
She has been married to Dr. Gary Heiligman for 33 years. They have three adult children, David, Naomi and Oz.
