About Rabbi Blumenthal
Rabbi Kim Blumenthal, Bet Chaverim’s dynamic spiritual leader, has a decade-long record of innovation, community outreach and leadership. She joined Bet Chaverim in 2018 from Beth Israel Congregation in Ann Arbor, MI. Earlier she served at Congregation Beth Israel in Vernon, CT and prior to ordination, she worked with congregations in New York City, NY; Scranton, PA; and Ventnor, NJ.
Rabbi Blumenthal was ordained by The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) where she earned her MA in Jewish Education, BA in Rabbinic Literature and earned honors for Homiletics and Student Leadership. Earlier, she graduated from Columbia University with a BA in Sociology and she completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at the New York University Medical Center.
Rabbi Blumenthal leads numerous programs and activities for the congregation, including the popular “Torah on Tap” monthly discussion. She also led the shul’s first Mission to Israel in 2020, a successful journey of discovery for many Congregational families. Among other activities, she also led Purim programs for kids and adults, as well as other liturgical discussions.
In addition, Rabbi Blumenthal was featured many news articles, and is often a contributor to Jewish publications. Her writing frequently focuses on the intersection of Jewish family life and contemporary American society. (See “Bet Chaverim in the News.”).
